Usage & Licence Analytics

To improve Airlock, we collect licence data and optionally usage metadata. Your benefit: a better user experience and more precise licensing. Everything is transparent, secure, and not shared with third parties.

At a glance

  • Usage Analytics is optional. You decide whether to activate or deactivate this feature.

  • Licence Analytics is required for licence compliance.

  • Affected products: Airlock IAM from version 8.5.
  • (Airlock Gateway or Microgateway currently do not transmit analytics data. Any expansion to other Airlock products will be communicated proactively.)

  • Processing is encrypted in the Airlock Cloud on Microsoft Azure. The data is processed exclusively in Switzerland.

What data is collected?

We do not collect or transmit personal or end-user data.

  1. Licence Analytics
These data are required to verify correct usage of the licensed product. For Airlock IAM, this includes:

    - Licence
    - Product version
    - Number of users in the database
    - Deployment form
    - Plugin configuration

  2. Usage Analytics
If not disabled, cleaned* usage data is transmitted, e.g.:

    - Product configuration
    - IAM database schema information
    - IAM metrics

* During cleaning, sensitive information is removed or obscured. This includes, among other things, secrets, plugin names, hostnames, URLs and other identifying values.

By cleaning the data, its sensitivity is reduced. However, the data is not fully anonymized: all licence usage data and some product usage data are linked to a specific product installation and can thus be associated with the licence-holder.

Control and transparency

Usage Analytics can be disabled at any time (opt-out). Licence Analytics remains mandatory for licence compliance and cannot be disabled.

The product documentation lists the data transmitted for each relevant product version in detail. The actual data of your system is stored locally before encryption and transmission, and can be inspected by the administrator. The documentation also includes instructions for disabling Usage Analytics.

Processing & security

The data is transmitted end-to-end encrypted to the Airlock Analytics Cloud, and processed exclusively in Switzerland. Further details on encryption can be found in the product documentation.

What we use the data for

  • Product improvement: We identify which features provide value and where friction occurs.
  • Product decisions based on actual usage: The data collected provide reliable signals for roadmap priorities.
  • No profiling, no marketing re-targeting, no sharing / no selling.

Our principles

  • Data minimization: We only collect what is truly necessary for the described purposes. Sensitive data is removed before transmission, ensuring that there are no inferences about network internals or operational details.
  • Transparency: The documentation provides detailed information about which data are transmitted. Administrators can review what is actually transmitted from their system.
  • Security: Data transmission is end-to-end encrypted, and access is strictly restricted.
  • Purpose limitation: Use is restricted to the stated purposes. No sharing / no selling of data to third parties.

Updated licence terms

The licence terms were updated as of September 16, 2025. All existing customers have been informed (with a 20 working day notice period for objections). For legal questions or objections, please contact Daniel Estermann (Head of Product Management).
